Class and Level Descriptions

Jazz builds a strong technical foundation which enables a dancer to focus on the stylistic and performance aspects of dance. It is essential for leaps, turns, and floorwork and greatly aided by ballet. Jazz allows the freedom to develop their individuality to its fullest…. Just like you see on So You Think You Can Dance! Our Advanced levels also incorporate Contemporary into the choreography.

Hip Hop: Hip-Hop has its roots in urban culture and percussive music. This class concentrates on syncopation, popping, locking, and breaking. Get ready to learn the latest moves and have FUN!

*Please note: Hip-Hop dancing relies percussive hip hop music. The culture from which it is derived, comes from the street and may contain some mature themes. Age is considered when selecting music for class, but sometimes the context is unavoidable.

Ballet is the key to impeccable technique. We offer classical movement in a contemporary environment with a mix of classical and current music. NOTE - A ballet class is required for all students on Independent PE.

Pointe – Pointe is a milestone that is reached after proper body development and strength. Young Dancers must be taking ballet 3x per week to take pointe class and have instructor approval.

Broadway Jazz: Does your child love the stage and love musicals like Wicked and Chicago? This class will help them learn performance skills while using Jazz technique. This should be paired with a jazz class and is the perfect to way to get a better role in the next Play.

Lyrical: is a fusion of jazz and ballet and used to tell a story. It is very technical and contains the beauty of fluidity, grace and gesture. This form must be taken with a Jazz or Ballet class.

Tap: We teach a blend of Broadway and Rhythm tap. This program will continue to grown and we plan to offer classes for more advanced tappers in the years to come.

Pilates: is the latest way to get in shape and improve your skills as a dancer. These classes are open to teens and adults to improve stretch, strength, and body awareness.

Aerial & Acrobatics for Dancers: is a great way for students to build strength & increase their acrobatic skills.  The class will consist of tumbling, static trapeze and aerial hammock.  As the students progress and increase their skill level they will be challenged to learn and create dynamic aerial dance pieces. This class is designed to enhance the students current dance repertoire by adding another dimension for them to explore. These classes are taught in collaboration with Airealistic’sAirealistic’s directors Gregg and Carmen were the choreographers for Cirque De Soleils La Reve at the Wynn in Las Vegas.

Company: Our student company offers a pre-professional experience with required classes, a full repertory of work, and their own show, Configuration.

Adult Classes: SB Dance Arts' adult program offers fitness and fun to adults looking to revisit or expand their dancing career. Use the Club SB Dance Arts card is a pre-paid alternative to paying in a full session. Plus discount for all college students.
