The SB DANCE ARTS Sign Up Board is on the LEFT after
the office, but BEFORE the Café tables and chairs. Please
have a look for upcoming workshops and master classes
for your dancer.
Class sizes are determined by the age & level of the dancers as well as
the size of the studio. Waiting lists are available for classes which
have reached their maximum enrollment. Priority is given to students
enrolled in another class at Dance Arts.
Some students are eligible for PE credits that can
be fulfilled by dance classes. Contact your school counselor for
information about Independent Study PE (applies to junior high and
high school students only). Allow Steven and Alana 1-2 weeks to
complete applications! ALL students on independent PE are required
to take a ballet class and pay a $100 annual fee to cover district insurance policy and pay for classes offered when we are not in session, BUT there is school in session. Please email steven@sbdancearts.com
for more info. Click HERE
to sign up for required Indy PE classes before classes start September 22nd.
We carry all recommended items in The Dance Store! Click HERE for more info.
ALL CLASSES - NO GUM! Dancers should have hair off their face. No jeans or skirts/dresses. Dancers should wear comfortable clothes that they can move in.
Pre School Classes - Younger students enrolled in Rhythm Jazz can wear fun and "dress-up" dance clothing such as skirts and tutus if they like.
Jazz - split soled jazz shoes* in TAN (new for 2010-2011). Jazz pants and shorts are recommended in black. (All dancers level 4A and Teen Jazz 3 and up should have tan and black jazz shoes, Black jazz shorts, pants and a black and nude leotard – these are frequently used to augment/under-dress costumes)
Hip Hop – Sneakers and comfortable clothes – skirts, and tutus not suggested. Sweatpants and baggy clothes are recommended! Please, no slip on sneaker/skimmers)
Tap – Tap shoes – we recommend our Revolution new slip on tap shoes available in the store. Comfortable clothes (see Jazz). Note: Heeled shoes not recommended.
Lyrical – Jazz shoes (tan), dance paws, or bare feet. Nude leotard may be necessary for the performance to under-dress costumes.
Broadway – See Jazz requirements. Broadway 3 and 4 should follow the extra requirements listed for Jazz 4A/Teen 3 and above). Broadway 3 and 4 may require character shoes – see instructor!
Ballet – pink ballet shoes (leather or canvas is fine). Dancers must wear leotard, tights and hair OFF the face. Jazz shorts and fitted warm ups OK.
Company – Black spaghetti strap leotard (Leos pinch front spaghetti strap leotard recommended), Black and Tan jazz shoes, Paws/AKA Illusions, nude leotard, Black jazz pants and black jazz shorts.
*Note: Jazz shoes are not required until your child is in Jazz Level 2A.
Please be on time for class since
a proper warm-up is imperative for injury prevention.
If a dancer misses too much of the warm-up, they may be
asked to sit out. Please notify SB DANCE ARTS if your
child has an extended absence beyond two classes. If your
child is injured and cannot dance, class should be attended
and observed. Please keep your child home if you think
they might be contagious. Making up classes is not mandatory
but if your child is interested please talk to the instructor.
Important: Class attendance is very
important, especially in the weeks prior to a performance. Please be
aware and plan according (see schedule section for rehearsal and
performance dates/times). MARK YOUR CALENDAR TODAY!!
Private lessons are to be arranged through the SB DANCE ARTS office!
We want your young dancer to have a fun time in class,
however, we expect a high level of respect and attention during class
time. Talking should be kept at a minimum out of respect for the
teacher and other students. Students who are constantly disruptive may
be asked to sit out. If you have any concerns regarding behavior and
discipline in our classes, please call us at 966-5299. After three warnings we will call home and if there are further problems, we will set up a conference with parent and teacher.
There is a drop off point in front of the studio. Students are restricted to
the deck and may not wait out on the street.
It is important that during regular business hours
(mon-fri noon 6pm) we use designated parking spots or street parking.
Calvary Chapel has generously offered their parking spaces Mon-Thurs for us.
Please remember to park in the places all the way in the back across
from the church entrance. The spaces that are before the church and
closer to the Yanonali entrance are designated and you could get towed.
We enjoy parents watching classes and feel you should be able to observe
the activities and individuals who work with your kids. To optimize
your kids' participation, I would like to ask the following:
Please do not talk to each other while observing class.
Please keep younger and/or visiting children quiet and observant of
class etiquette.
Do not give your young dancer corrections or instructions, even if you
think they are not behaving properly.
No mobile phones are allowed in the studio.
We have a café seating area for parents to wait for their young dancer/artist to finish classes. Enjoy a snack or refreshment while you wait from the new and improved Dance Arts Store. All proceeds benefit our scholarship program.
SB DANCE ARTS has a new and exciting program to help introduce new people to the studio and help you SAVE!! This is an ACTIVE recruitment program and there are ABSOLUTELY NO RETROACTIVE CREDITS - NO EXCEPTIONS. You must carefully follow ALL THE STEPS BELOW to receive your credit.
