WHAT TO WEAR AND BRING
All dancers should pack a water bottle and a morning snack. Full day campers should bring lunch. Snacks will be provided by us in the afternoon only.
We have a non-refrigerated vending machine with snacks that takes cash/card/Apple Pay, plus, we have a filtered water bottle station. We do not have cold storage or a microwave available for snacks or meals.
Our Youth and Tween dancers should wear comfortable clothes (no jeans or dresses); preferably dance attire. They should bring socks, sneakers, any dance shoes (jazz, ballet, etc.) and hair should be off the face. Dance shoes are not required; note that dancers will be asked to be barefoot in lieu of dance shoes for a lot of classes (Jazz and Ballet shoes suggested, but sneakers are OK!).
Our STEP Accelerated Dancers should bring jazz shoes, ballet shoes and sneakers; some weeks, tap shoes will be needed. While we do not require leotards, clothing should allow you to move freely, and the teacher to see your alignment.
Please see the handbook link that has detailed information about camp with a list of FAQs including what to wear.
We have an online dancewear store. Delivery from our partner takes about 2-3 days.

LEVELS and PLACEMENT
Since different students attend each week, levels will change, and their group one week may be different than the next. It is a very complex and thoughtful process with your dancer’s long-term development in mind.
Class placement and advancement is at the discretion of the Educational Director. Because of space, we can only have a maximum of four levels; therefore, there is a range of ages and levels in each group. The director and instructors look for a student's knowledge of our syllabus (available at www.sbdancearts.com), age, body development, and number of dancers attending each week to find the best level for your dancer. If these factors sync up with their friend/sibling, they will be able to be in the same group. If they must be together, the dancers will both be placed in the lower-level group. We promise they will learn quality dance training and have fun!
We purposely structure summer levels differently than the academic year as to keep the separation from the two programs. While we often use the levels from the Dance Arts school year to determine groups, their summer levels do not directly correlate to their fall placement.
The exciting part about Destination Dance is that after weeks of intensive dancing, some students make great strides and demonstrate they are ready for more. On these rare and special occasions, students are given the opportunity to push beyond their weekly level.
THE DANCE ARTS GOLDEN RULE FOR PLACEMENT: Never worry about anyone else in class but yourself. If you want to move up, do not complain about being unchallenged.... show us you are ready!
