Director's Note

Welcome to the Dance Arts family! Season 21 is here with over 100 new families, 18 new classes, 4 new teachers, and 3 new faces in the office. We cannot wait to make memories on and off the dance floor. This year our staff is striving to be very intentional at Dance Arts. Every child matters, every time. We are on a mission to promote, model, and encourage kindness and inclusivity as we grow our community. Look for fun contests, new events, and opportunities for your child to be seen and heard at their dance home. Whether they dance once a week or six days a week, we want all kids to feel identity and worthiness in our program. If your child is struggling, or feeling lost at school, or at dance, please take the time to let our staff know. We can be that extra light in their life when they are going through a tough time. We are also encouraging kids to support each other. Check out our new ‘Shout it Out’ box at reception. It allows them to acknowledge their peers for their accomplishments. Whether it is getting their back walk over in Acro, or winning the spelling bee at school, we want kids to have a place to celebrate each other. Kindness can be contagious. I look forward to hugging old friends, or meeting you, and your dancer as the year progresses. I will be in the studio teaching, walking the halls, and sometimes chasing my son, Jace. He is now 4 ½ years old, and his favorite day of the week is Thursday, when he gets his own dance class with Brittany at his school. Brittany was my student, and now she teaches my son, and hundreds of kids at the studio. That is the legacy of 21 years, and that sense of community and family are at the heart of the Dance Arts experience. After such a challenging last year, we hope this season dance will help heal and empower your children. We are ready to leap out of the muddy ashes and into a new year of possibility and growth. THANK YOU for choosing SB Dance Arts for you and your family. Follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube so you can enjoy the ride in pictures and videos! Tag us and add #danceartsproud as you share your memories. Please read my monthly blog below and look at my vlog on our special Santa Barbara Dance Arts Parent group. It will help you navigate the world as a dance parent and have some fun along the way! Alana

Class Assistants Needed

Get community service! Be a leader! Ages 11+

Class Assistants are emerging as leaders and mentors at the studio.  We are authorized providers of Community Service for local schools and for many children, this is their first 'job'.  There is no compensation for the position, but it is a chance to be a bigger part of the Dance Arts family and nurture the next generation of talent.

Class Buddies will visit their class four times per year and act as a mentor, guide, and friend to our students.

We suggest dancers are at least 11+ and dancing in a S.T.E.P Level in the discipline they wish to assist/buddy. This is a weekly commitment and we expect dancers to be responsible and communicate any absences or scheduling issues in a timely manner.

Mega Important Policies

We have highlighted some of our most important policies for you.

  • Our season is September to May

  • NO REFUNDS after the two week grace period from agreed upon start date

  • Inspire May Recital Costume Charge - November 16th

  • Open enrollment to drop classes is November 1 - 15 to avoid charges for costumes and Spring Tuition auto charge

  • We do not offer makeups for personal absences or illness, but we DO offer makeups for Studio Holiday Closure - please see calendar and handbook for details

  • View our handbook for a complete guide to studio policies.

Safety First!

While we allow dancers to wait in the lobby and common area in between classes, we are not responsible for unattended children outside the classroom.

In order to keep our space safe from unwanted vagrants, we will lock both the front and back doors at 7:15pm

Please remember dancers should never be asked to wait outside for parents.
