Director’s Note
Dear Dance Families,
I hope you are all thriving in the hustle and bustle of back to school and BACK TO DANCE! As we begin our 29th season, I am feeling especially grateful for this incredible community. For nearly three decades, SB Dance Arts has been the place where a classmate becomes a best friend, a teacher becomes a mentor, a student becomes a leader, and an activity becomes a passion.
As a mom, I know how hard it is to find a place where your child is truly valued and feels like they belong. SB Dance Arts was built from the best parts and missing pieces of my own studio experience, and it grows stronger because of families like you who value a program that is MORE than just dance.
This year, our theme is UNITY: We Move Together.
UNITY does not mean we are all the same. It means there is room for everyone. It means welcoming someone new, cheering for someone outside your circle, celebrating each other’s successes, and noticing when someone needs a place to belong. What each of us brings to the room makes our whole community stronger. Our goal is for SB Dance Arts to be a “third place” outside of home and school where kids feel known, supported, challenged, and celebrated.
Thank you for supporting a living wage for our team of professional educators who undergo extensive safety and equity training. Thank you for investing in a program that background checks staff, prioritizes accessibility, and uses an intentional curriculum designed to nurture the whole child. Thank you for choosing an activity that provides movement, connection, creativity, and self-expression in an increasingly digital world.
Most of all, thank you for believing alongside us that dance lessons teach life lessons.
We are committed to keeping you in the loop on your child’s progress, from the small wins to the achievement of BIG goals! I also look forward to getting to know you and your kids, whether this is their first class or their graduation performance. If you see me in the halls, please introduce (or re-introduce) yourself.
Your kids are the light of my life. Thank you for trusting us with them and for choosing to be part of this very special community.
