Director's Note

Welcome to the Dance Arts family! This is a HUGE year for us, as we celebrate 20 years of dance and community in Santa Barbara. I am so grateful you have chosen us to inspire your child.   In our survey last year, we appreciated our successes, and listened to ways that we can serve you better.  We have an incredible administrative team that is here to help you.  New facecs: Rita, Susan, Nathan, along with veterans Lauren, Julie and Brittany are here to help you navigate through your child's dance season. We hope our 'new look' will make information easier to navigate.  Newsletters will always go out the first Wednesday of the month with a Friday Focus giving a 'smaller bite' when we are close to showtime! These will go out via SMS and email, but can always be found on the website! We want to keep you informed! Our teaching staff is committed to giving your child a very special and individualized experience: setting goals, working on our syllabus, and preparing them for our performances.  Each class will be assigned a 'buddy' this year, and this older dancer will serve as a mentor, leader, and friendly face at the studio.  Parents will receive photos and videos of your child each session, so you can see that joy and growth are the dividends on your investment!  Whether this is your child's first dance class, or you are preparing your senior for the road to college, this is a special time! I am honored that we get to fill all those years in between for hundreds of dancers.  Please feel free to watch class (no matter what your teen says). Whether it is that twirl in a tutu, confidence and swag in hip hop, or effortless grace as she floats through a leap, you have invested in the gift of expression for your child. The gifts are many: discipline, community, friendship, service, confidence, and happiness.    Thank you for entrusting us to give them this experience. Whether they pursue a career or education in dance is irrelavant.  We just want our kids to find their 'thing'.  I hope they find that here at Dance Arts. I look forward to meeting you and your dancer as the year progresses. I will be in the studio teaching, walking the halls, and sometimes chasing my son, Jace. He is now 3 ½ years old, and his favorite day of the week is Thursday, when he get's his own dance class Brittany at his school.  Brittany was my student, and now she teaches my son.  That is the legacy of 20 years, and that sense of community and family are at the heart of the Dance Arts experience.    THANK YOU for choosing SB Dance Arts for you and your family. Follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube so you can enjoy the ride in pictures!  Share your memories and let's make this year, the best one yet! Alana

Class Assistants Needed

Get community service! Be a leader! Ages 11+

Class Assistants are emerging as leaders and mentors at the studio.  We are authorized providers of Community Service for local schools and for many children, this is their first 'job'.  There is no compensation for the position, but it is a chance to be a bigger part of the Dance Arts family and nurture the next generation of talent.

Class Buddies will visit their class four times per year and act as a mentor, guide, and friend to our students.

We suggest dancers are at least 11+ and dancing in a S.T.E.P Level in the discipline they wish to assist/buddy. This is a weekly commitment and we expect dancers to be responsible and communicate any absences or scheduling issues in a timely manner.
